What types of content are prohibited in SMS messages sent via smsmode©?

smsmode©, like all messaging platforms, follows telecom operator requirements and may prohibit certain types of SMS content in order to comply with local laws and regulations.

An SMS may be deemed non-compliant and lead to an operator fine, which will be charged back to the sender’s account.

Prohibited (non-compliant) content may include:

  • Illegal or fraudulent content

  • Defamatory, offensive, or discriminatory content

  • Pornographic or adult content

  • Content inciting hatred or violence

  • Spam or scam content (smishing – bank, health insurance, taxes, fines, CPF, Prime Rénov’, etc.)

  • Gambling-related content (betting, roulette, etc.)

  • Any content violating copyrights or registered trademarks

  • Content restricted by the French Loi Évin or other telecom operator requirements (alcohol, tobacco, vaping, CBD)

  • Content promoting medication, health claims, or alternative medicine

  • Content related to cryptocurrencies or various investments
